As far as movies go, I like that it's the love of two sisters not just some prince riding in, that saves the day. It's a rare thing and as mum to three girls, a nice surprise.
So rather than 'Let it go' (sorry) I decided to embrace it instead by making some 'Frozen' figurines of our own.

I didn't want to draw their hair on so I used some embroidery thread instead. Weaving and knotting it as I went and then I fixed it to the peg doll with some Mod Podge.
Obviously, I'm not a hairdresser...
But I think they turned out okay. Presenting Princess Anna and Prince Hans (boo!!).
My children love them. On when the soundtrack (we have the Deluxe Edition which includes all the instrumental tracks too) and they were busy replaying the start of the movie 'Frozen' with the cardboard castle I had made a couple of years ago.
We painted it and it has seen plenty of play since then. In between it folds flat making it easy to store.
Our newest residents were soon joined by other members of the royal family and some of the townsfolk of Arendelle.
The girls had made these other peg people last year while I had made the king and queen for preschool.
The next thing they decided to do was to decorate the castle look more like Elsa and Anna's by drawing some of the things they'd seen in the movie.
That's one of the best things about children's play - watching it change and grow as they become involved. I might make these things for my children but they own them with their play.
The other reason I make these things in front of my children, is to have them see me create something, to take an idea and turn it into something real. It doesn't always have to turn out perfectly and often doesn't, they just have to see me finish something I've started. They were certainly happy to see me finish these!
