It's the summer school holidays and we're in the middle of our longest break from school which for us means it's the perfect time to reacquaint ourselves with some of the easy play ideas we love. Imaginative play is valued highly in our house and messy play is enjoyed by all so over the next few days I will be setting up some simple invitations for play. To start you will need -
- a can of shaving cream
- a large container to hold the shaving cream (we love these shallow Tub Trug(affiliate link) for play)
- small packet of water beads
(similar is available on eBay or in-store at Spotlight)
- free printable playmats from the awesome Picklebums site (these are optional but so lovely if you have access to a printer and laminator)
- glitter (we love it, some people don't)
- some cupcake liners, small containers and spoons
If you were more organised than me, you could soak your water beads in water before playing but they swell quickly enough and the children always love watching them change.
While waiting we played with the shaving cream but then they couldn't wait long...
While they took care of dessert, I went inside to make dinner. Easy!
Kate from Picklebums makes the best play mats! They just invite play! Perfect with play dough too.
Needless to say it all ended up back in the tub for some more play after they were finished with their 'food'.
