We continued our easy play ideas outside today by using an old technique in a new way. We started our summer of easy play ideas yesterday with some pretend play which you can read about by clicking here. You can also follow our simple invitations to play on Instagram under the hashtag #easyplayidea. Today, using some painters tape, I invited the kids to create some resist art outside on the concrete. So simple and easy.
Are you following us on Pinterest?
To get started you will need -
- some masking or painters tape
- coloured chalk
- smooth outside surface (or a large piece of card if working inside)
Simply tape your design onto the concrete or card. It could be a word, your name, shapes or numbers. Whatever you like but make it big if you're trying to write anything with curved lines.
Once the tape is in place, cover with chalk.
Then carefully peel off the tape to reveal the original surface underneath.
The girls all decided to do their names. I helped the five year old with her curved letters while she did the letters with straight lines.
Resist art is so very easy to do but always looks effective and it's always nice to work outside when we can.
I'll be back tomorrow with our next easy play idea. Can't wait? Check out the hashtag #easyplayidea over on Instagram for more ideas.
