Last Christmas we purchased a Fort Magic Kit. We LOVE it and have used to it for many forts or cubby houses both inside and out since. I decided to use it again to build our sensory fort. I've love what The Artful Parent did with their Fort Magic kit when they created a outdoor playhouse but knowing how much mine also love their rainbow blocks I mixed the two ideas together to come up with our sensory playhouse. I also wanted to create an invitation for my children to explore the colour and textures of the fort so after adding a mix of cellophane, foil, bubble wrap and white plastic sheeting, out came some paint as well.
Then out came the kids! They started looking by simply looking through the different coloured panels and watching the colourful shadows the panels were throwing on the ground. It didn't take long for them to begin painting on the panels, starting on the white squares.
They then moved onto painting the foil which was making such a lovely sound in the breeze whilst my youngest started finger painting the bubble wrap. Such a rich sensory way to explore paint!
