To start, you will need:
- some different scraps of ribbon
- white paper (we just used 80gsm)
- crayons
- pieces of recycled cardboard
- clear glue
Simply lay the scraps of lace under the paper and use your crayons to rub over the top, creating a imprint of the lace underneath. We've all done this with bark and coins - lace works just as well.
Whilst my older two and I could hold the paper still enough, my youngest struggled to do the same so using some of our lace offcuts, I created some rubbing plates for her to use instead by gluing some pieces to some cardboard I pulled out of the recycling.
She found this much easier to handle. I also printed out some simple egg shapes for them to decorate. I printed 2 per A4 sheet of paper to also make them more manageable for small hands. These rubbing plates worked so well I made some more for my class to use as well.
